Orlando Manuel Barros, age 69, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Summit, New Jersey, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on June 14, 1957, in Chão da Parada, Portugal, Orlando was the beloved son of Maria Lurdes and Arlindo Barros. He later built a life in New Jersey, where he was known for his strong work ethic, generosity, and deep love for his family.
Orlando shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Maria Fernanda. Together they raised three children: Orlando “OJ”, Michael and Jessica. He was a proud father-in-law to Vanessa, Mariel, and Apolinar, and a loving grandfather to Jayden, Aubrey, Mila, Jaxson, Mason, Iris, and Evan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
For many years, Orlando served as Chief Mechanic for the City of Elizabeth. He was known for his skill, dedication, and willingness to help others. Whether fixing a car or building something from scratch, there was little he couldn’t do.
Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, cooking and working with his hands. He took pride in everything he did and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Orlando will be remembered for his strength, kindness, sense of humor and love for animals. Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the love, lessons, and memories he leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home in Linden, NJ on Tuesday, July 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima , 403 Spring St, Elizabeth, NJ 07201, celebrating Orlando’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, at 9:30 a.m.
