1949 – 2025
Paul Grzegorczyk, 76, of Mine Hill, New Jersey, passed away on June 22, 2025, following a courageous battle with a terminal illness. Surrounded by the love of his family, Paul left this world as he lived—strong, faithful, and deeply cherished.
Born in 1949 in the village of Jasliska, Poland, Paul was the beloved son of Jadwiga (née Niziolek) and Ignacy Grzegorczyk. His early years in Jasliska were rooted in faith, family, and patriotism. After graduating school, he began his career as a constructor in an automotive fabrication facility, where fate led him to meet his lifelong partner, Elizabeth, who first joined his team as his assistant. Their love blossomed into a marriage that would span nearly five decades, filled with enduring devotion and unwavering partnership.
Paul’s love for his homeland ran deep. A proud Polish patriot, he played a pivotal role in the fight for freedom as one of the founding members of Solidarność Ziemi Nyskiej—a courageous movement that helped shape Poland’s path to democracy. His convictions came at great personal cost: in 1982, he was imprisoned in Nysa and Grodków for his opposition to the communist regime. The following year, seeking a better future for his family, Paul immigrated to the United States. From afar, he continued to advocate for Poland’s liberation, witnessing its hard-won freedom in 1989.
In America, Paul built a new life rooted in perseverance and principle. He worked for many years at Pabst Engineering in a supervisory role, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues until his retirement in 2020. Despite the challenges of starting over in a new country, Paul remained a steadfast provider and guide for his family.
Above all, Paul was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He took immense pride in his family, always prioritizing their well-being and celebrating their achievements. His sons, Damian and Paul Jr., were his greatest joys, and his love for them extended warmly to his daughters-in-law, Anna and Justyna. Nothing lit up his face more than the presence of his beloved grandson, Ethan, whose laughter brought him endless delight.
Paul's zest for life extended far beyond work and family. He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially passionate about volleyball, ping pong, tennis, and soccer. His powerful singing voice could often be heard resonating through the walls of his church, where he joyfully sang in the choir, a true expression of his faith and spirit. Together with Elizabeth, he explored the world by sea, and the two became Diamond Class cruise members—a testament to their shared love of travel and adventure.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Elizabeth, his beloved sons, Damian (Anna) and Paul Jr. (Justyna), and his treasured grandson, Ethan. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Michelle and Helena, and their husbands, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family in both the United States and Poland.
Paul’s legacy is one of unwavering love, fierce integrity, and profound courage. He leaves behind a family and community who will forever honor his memory and strive to live by the example he set. His was a life well-lived—and deeply loved.
May he rest in eternal peace.
