Paul Yearwood Jr., affectionately known as “PJ,” age 58, of Roselle, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025. He was born on May 28, 1967 in the Bronx, New York, the beloved son of Paul Yearwood Sr. and Audrey Burton, who were high school sweethearts. Paul was their only son from their union, and from a young age, he brought joy and light to all who knew him.
Growing up, Paul attended Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, where he developed a strong sense of community and a love for learning. Following in his father’s footsteps, he discovered a passion for opticianry and dedicated his life to the craft. Throughout his career, he worked across New York City, helping thousands of people get properly fitted for glasses. His work was not just a profession, but a true calling, and he took pride in improving the lives of others through his skill, patience, and care.
Though taken from us far too soon, Paul touched the lives of all who knew him with his warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit. With his friendly demeanor and genuine interest in others, Paul had a remarkable ability to bring people together and brighten any room he entered. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
He is survived by his parents, Paul Yearwood Sr. and Audrey Burton; his brothers, Shone Callendar, Aaron Callendar, Johnathan Green Yearwood, Toussaint Yearwood, Jason Yearwood, Sean Yearwood, and Ryan Yearwood; his sister, Ashley Adams (Corley); his children, Paul Yearwood III (Samantha), Paul Tyshawn Yearwood, and Paulina Duncan; and a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
