

Raymond was a life-long resident of Elizabeth, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, in Rahway Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
He moved to Clark, NJ in his later years. Raymond was predeceased by his Father, Leonard Peplowski, his Mother Helen (Wlazlowski) Peplowski and his brother Joseph Peplowski.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years whom he often referred to as his child bride, Jean (Skibo) Peplowski; two devoted daughters, the apples of his eye, Dawn Wasserman, (Rob), and Jill McDonough (Chris); and his wonderful granddaughter Nicole McDonough, whom he cherished;
Raymond loved his family and would do anything he could to make sure they were taken care of and happy. He was kind and generous. He would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He loved people and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh.
Raymond loved gardening and was so proud of his delicious tomato crop. He loved animals of all kinds and would feed the birds and other stray animals outside of his home in Elizabeth and later Clark. He also had many pets through the years from dogs and cats to a rooster and even a couple baby calfs have been hidden out in our garage in Elizabeth until a safe home was found for them.
He retired from the City of Elizabeth as an auto mechanic in 2015 at the age of 75, however he would have told you he was 39.
He worked over sixty years as a mechanic on Automotive, Aircraft, Tractors and Marine mechanics.
He was very proud of his military training in the United States Navy where he was assigned to the US Naval Airforce.
During his military service he was sent to Rota, Spain where he learned to repair Aircrafts and also learned a second language which served him throughout his life. He loved talking about his travels while in the Navy where he was attached to a squadron which deployed to all countries in the East, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. He graduated in rank to Second Class Petty Officer.
He studied at the Teterboro School of Aeronautics after the Navy.
In his younger years, he worked two jobs was hired by United Air Lines where he worked the second shift and took a job with a Ford Dealership: Mayfair Ford in Linden, NJ, working during the day.
He has worked in various other dealerships through the years including Elmwood Ford in Elmwood Park, NJ , Bay Lincoln & Mercury of Bayridge Brooklyn, New York, and Butler Aviation of Newark, NJ.
He opened a partnership, P&M Auto Service in Linden, NJ, which he operated for five years.
While self employed as a mechanic, he went back to school to get his Captain’s License and started a Charter Fishing business on the weekends.
He worked at Georges Gulf of Elizabeth, NJ for twenty years before going to work for the City of Elizabeth.
He touched many lives with his humorous nature and warm heart.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visiting on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, 3:00-7:00 pm at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 E St. George Ave, Linden (908)352-9190. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, 9:00 am from the funeral home. Funeral mass St. Hedwig RC Church, Elizabeth 10:30 am, followed by an interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
