Roberto Juan Gonzalez, 79, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered for his faith, sense of humor, and devotion to his family. Roberto exemplified his selflessness through his charitable work by volunteering at St. Mary’s soup kitchen and food pantry. He also traveled abroad on missionary work in the Dominican Republic. He was also active with his wife in the Worldwide Marriage Encounter to deepen their relationship. His laughter was contagious and was known to light up a room. Family played a crucial role in his life by traveling across the country to visit his children and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Roberto was also involved in the struggle and advocacy for a liberated Cuba through Agrupacion Abdala. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irma Gonzalez; his children, Adriel (Mildred Bernier-Gonzalez) Gonzalez and Viviana (Jared) Leable; and his grandchildren, Giovanni, Arianna, Avery, and Adeline. He is predeceased by his father, Timoteo; mother, Delia; and brother, Walter.
Visitation will be held at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East St.Georges Ave, Linden on Thursday, July 30,2026 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral on Friday, July 31,2026, 9:00 am at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary of the Assumption Church 155 Washington Ave. Elizabeth, N.J. at 10:00 am.
Interment to follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery 53 Inman Ave. Colonia, N.J.
