Rose was born on February 21, 1937 in Elizabeth to Stephen and Anna Juran. She attended Elizabeth schools and graduated from Battin High School in 1954.
Rose married William VanDeventer in 1961. They made their home in Elizabeth, and Rose worked for Royal Dairy for many years before retiring. Rose and Bill enjoyed golfing and traveling to their condominium in Myrtle Beach. They treasured their two large dogs, Morgan and Maggie, who accompanied them on their travels.
Rose was a lifelong Catholic with a strong faith. She loved traveling and reading and was adept at games and solving puzzles. One of her guilty pleasures was her daily viewing of Wheel of Fortune, followed by Jeopardy! She especially enjoyed family visits and will be remembered as “the aunt with the cookies,” as she always had a cookie ready for her great nephews, and later for her great-great niece.
Rose’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Cynthia Little and Misty Albers for the devoted care, companionship, and support they provided to Rose over the years. Their kindness and dedication allowed Rose to remain in the comfort of her family home, and Cynthia continued to provide devoted care and support during Rose’s final months. Our family will always be grateful for the compassion they showed our dear “Aunt Rosie.”
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Anna Juran, her husband, William, and her sister, Joan Hatton. She is survived by her nieces Hope Lee Hatton of Hawaii and Joy Lynn Schmitz and her husband, Richard, of Oklahoma; her nephew Robert W. Hatton and his wife, Tracy, of Pennsylvania; great-nephews Stephen and Michael Hatton; and great-great-niece Pandora Hatton.
