Rosemary was predeceased by her parents Michael and Maria Aliseo; and beloved brothers Michael and Thomas. Remaining to cherish her are son James and daughters Stephanie and Michelle; brothers Steven and Joseph; sisters Arlene and Mary; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Rosemary was born in Staten Island, NY and moved to Elizabeth in 1957. Rose attended Saint Michael’s grammar school and graduated from Sacred Heart HS. After high school, Rose trained and worked as a legal secretary. She also worked at the family-owned business, Pal’s Tavern. Later, Rose went on to work in the hospitality industry. She made stops at Howard Johnson’s and the Ramada Inn in Newark, as well as The Garden Restaurant in Union. In 1996 she began a career with the Elizabeth Police Department. During those years, she worked as a dispatcher and as a property clerk. Rose retired in 2016 to be a full-time grandmother, affectionately known as Nanny Ro.
The cornerstone of Rosemary’s life was spending time with her family. Some of her most cherished memories were hosting holidays, going to Medieval Times and New York City with her grandchildren. A special place for Rose was Saratoga Springs. For 33 years she traveled with her family for horse races, laughs, and a lot of crumblers! She loved making the call to the Ripe Tomato to make the dinner reservation for fifty plus. Nanny Ro was always ready to make 100 meatballs for a family gathering…and she poured her heart into each one. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, too.
Rose’s personality was endearing. She had a heart of gold. The doors at Country Club Lane were always open to family and friends. She would be able to put a lasting smile on anyone’s face and she will be deeply missed.
