Ruby Jenkins

Ruby Lee Jenkins, 74, of Roselle, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Born on January 1, 1952 in Manning, SC, to the late Blanche and Rufus Mathis, she later moved to Jersey City where she attended and graduated from Dickerson High School. At 19 years old, Ruby worked at Jersey City Medical Center for many years.

She later met the love of her life and was happily married for 53 years to Charlie Jenkins, Sr. Eventually, Ruby and Charlie had two children; the late Yolanda Jenkins (2020), and Charlie Jenkins, Jr.

Ruby and Charlie moved to Roselle in 1985. She worked at the ILA Long Shoreman Associations for 16 years, retiring in 2018.

Ruby loved hosting family bbq's, shopping, going out to eat and going on vacations.

Ruby is survived by her beloved husband Charlie, Sr., son Charlie, Jr., siblings, Carrie Lee Beaufort, Mary Bryant, Robert Matthews, John Mathis, the late Carolyn Watkins, Lucille Dixion, Lee Ernest Mathis, Zander Lee Mathis, Rufus Mathis, Jr., and Isaac Mathis, Stepchildren Donald Jenkins, Darnel Jenkins(Earlene Jenkins) and Charmaine Jenkins. She was a cherished grandmother of Justin Hardrick , Tajonae Burns, Elijah Hardrick and Isaiah Hardrick, great grandmother of Neveah Hardrick, Nyla Hardrick, Tammy Hurling, Ava Hardrick. Dear daughter-in-law of Rosana and Henry Jenkins, sister-in-law of Williemae Richard Joe, Timothy Rogers, and Brian Jenkins , Joan Ann Jenkins, Annie and Leroy Morgan, Rebecca Jenkins, Cornelius Jenkins, and the late Henry Jenkins. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.

The Jenkins family wishes to send love and appreciation to everyone at this time. She was loved very deeply.
