Saline “Sally” Russo-Marchese (née Patterson), 87, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on January 3, 1938, Sally lived a life devoted to her family and the joys of home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a proud homemaker. Sally had a special gift for making those around her feel welcome—whether through her delicious home cooking, her love of hosting backyard barbecues, or the simple pleasure of spending quality time with friends and family. She enjoyed watching game shows, reading, and traveling—always treasuring the memories made along the way. Her infectious laugh lit up every room she entered and brought joy to all who knew her.
Sally was predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Russo, and is survived by their children: Alfred Russo and his wife Allison, and Seline Russo and her partner Chris Byrne. She was later married to Charles Marchese, who also predeceased her. Through that union, she was a devoted mother to Charlene Marchese and her partner Hal Melnick, and Francine Marchese and her partner Don Feuerstein.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Mary Patterson, and siblings Carol Puckett, Jane Freggens, Susan Patterson, John Patterson, and Michael Patterson. She is survived by her brother, James Patterson, of Merritt Island, Florida.
Saline’s legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Robert Stone, Ashley Lowe and her husband Ryan, Brittany Virtue and her husband Theodore, Anthony Russo, Vinnesa Sacchetti, and Kara Sacchetti; and her beloved great-grandchildren: Christopher, Kylie, and Kelsea.
Saline’s warmth, strength, sense of humor, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Private funeral services were held on May 8, 2025 under the direction of Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, Linden.
