They walk beside us every day– unseen, unheard, but always near.
Today, we gather with hearts that are incredibly heavy, because saying goodbye to my father feels almost impossible. How do you put into words, the life of a man who meant so much to so many people? How do you say goodbye to someone whose love, laughter, stories and presence became such an important part of the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him?
My father was a family man family was who he was. He came from a large family, surrounded by siblings and so much love, he carried that love with him throughout his entire life. His heart was big enough to make everyone feel they belonged in it. That seemed love continued with the family he created. He was the greatest father we could have ever asked for and the most loving husband. His children were his pride, and the love he had for us was something we never had to question. It was the way he showed up, the way he welcomed us, the way he listened, the way he laughed with us, and in all the little things that we may not have fully appreciated until now.
He had such a special love for children. There was something about him that children naturally gravitated toward. He knew how to make them smile, how to make them laugh, and how to make them feel like they mattered. That was simply who he was.
So many people knew my father because he was always happy. He carried a light with him. His smile, his laughter, his personality, they were impossible to forget.
And of course, he always had a story. So many stories, he could sit with someone for what felt like minutes, and somehow turn it into our, sharing, memories, experiences, jokes, lessons, and stories from his life. And even when you had heard the same story before, there was something about the way he told it that made you wanna hear it again.
That is one of the things we will miss the most, his voice, his laughter, his stories, and simply knowing that he was there. And that is why his passing has weighed so heavily on so many of us we are not only mourning a father, we are mourning, a husband, a brother, a grandfather, a relative, a friend, and a truly extraordinary human being.
We are mourning someone whose absence leaves a space that can cannot simply be filled.
Dad was an extraordinary man. He was admired, respected, and deeply loved. He made people feel loved, welcomed, important, he made people laugh. That is the legacy he leaves behind. His greatest legacy is not something that can be held in our hands. It is in us. It is in the values he taught us, the love he gave us, the memories he created, and the way he showed us what it means to care for your family and for the people around you.
Dad your life was a gift to all of us. You were deeply love and admired. You will be deeply missed. Thank you for loving us the way you did. Teaching us what family means. Thank you for your laughter, your stories, your generosity, and your beautiful heart. Thank you for being an incredible husband, a devoted father, a loving, brother, and. Exemplary man.
Rest peacefully, Dad. We love you, we will miss you and most importantly, we will never forget you.
