SABATTUS- Becky M. Gross, 67, of Sabattus, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 19, 2025, following an eight-month battle with glioblastoma. Her husband, David, was by her side in her final moments.
Born January 28, 1958, in Augusta, Maine, to Evelyn (Gould) and Frederick Williams, Jr, Becky spent her early years in Guilford, Bowdoinham, and Island Falls before settling into the Lisbon school system. A proud graduate of Lisbon High School, she was a member of the Class of 1976, finishing in the top ten of her class.
Shortly after graduation, Becky married David Gross, the love of her life, on June 19, 1976. Together they shared 49 wonderful years of marriage.
Throughout her life, Becky was a loving wife, caring mother, and loyal friend. After a 41-year career at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, she enjoyed part-time cashiering at several local stores, including Food City and Market Basket, where her warm smile and friendly nature made her a favorite among customers and coworkers alike.
Outside of work, Becky was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 158 in Lisbon. She also had a well-known weakness for cats — despite David’s protests that the house was full, she never hesitated to bring home “just one more” — each one quickly finding a special place in her heart. When she wasn’t rescuing cats, she could often be found shopping — something that brought her joy and gave her family plenty of laughs over the years
She is survived by her loving husband, David; her four daughters: Lisa David of Lewiston, Lori Bureau and husband Jeff Mason of Litchfield, Kelly and husband Michael Hebert of Lisbon, and Amy and husband Roger Violette Jr. of Auburn; ten grandchildren: Kelsey, Everett, Alex, Stephanie, Kaitlyn, Jasmine, Jeffrey, Gabe, Gracie, and Jake; and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brothers, Brian and Barry Williams both of Lewiston; her sister, Brenda Guerette Farmer of Leesburg, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Becky was predeceased by her parents and a granddaughter, Hailey Emery.
Becky will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering strength, and deep love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the spring.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Andwell Home Hospice for their gentle care and support throughout the last few months of Becky’s life, and a special thank-you to her CNA, Jenn, who went above and beyond with her kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Becky’s memory to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society at www.gahumane.org.
Arrangements by Crosman Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Lisbon Falls, Maine 353-4951. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at crosmanfuneralhome.com .
