Cecile Juliette Chenard, 89, died on September 30, 2026. Cecile was born on December 26, 1936, to Adolf Pomerleau and Yvonne Harp. A longtime resident of Lewiston, Maine, she lived a life marked by steady devotion to faith, family, and the quiet joys that make a home.
Cecile attended Lewiston and Lisbon schools. In her working years, she was employed at the Juliette Mills in Lisbon Center and also spent time in food service for Hotel 8, bringing diligence and care to the everyday work that supports a community.
In 1958, Cecile married Lionel Cote, and they shared their lives together until his passing. They raised three children. She later married Romeo Chenard, who took wonderful care of her throughout more than 30 years of marriage, a companionship that remained a source of comfort and strength.
A devout Catholic, Cecile attended St. Annes Church in Lisbon. Her faith was a constant presence in her life, reflected in the way she cherished family gatherings and holidays, and in the warmth she extended to those around her. She found simple pleasures in crocheting and bird watching, and she especially loved her many beloved dogs—most recently Chichi and Buddy.
Cecile was predeceased by her parents; her husbands; and her three brothers, Reo Pomerleau, Romeo Pomerleau, and Roland Pomerleau.
She is survived by her son Ray Cote, Romeo Cote (Tina), and Mike Cote (Crystal); and by her grandchildren Tina, Heidi, Ray, Erica, Erin, Ryan, Michael, Mindy, Brianna, and Douglas. Cecile also leaves behind many great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
Special thanks are extended to Woodlands Memory Care for the incredible care they gave to Cecile.
