Eileen V. Babcock

BRUNSWICK - Eileen Vivian Babcock, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Midcoast Hospital. She was born in Lewiston on June 17, 1951, a daughter of the late Francis and Vivian (Goddard) Babcock.

On June 24, 1956, Eileen received the Lord as her savior at Charlie Marstella's Church in Durham, Maine. Later in life, she chose to be a part of the Durham Friends Meeting House. She went to college at the University of Maine at Orono to receive her bachelor’s degree in education. She worked for the town of Durham and the state of Maine and many other organizations. Her enjoyment was taking care of her parents, experimenting new recipes and walking outside quietly with her family, and making cider with her father. She enjoyed helping people with various activities, such as taking them shopping and helping raise her nieces while her sister worked. She also was the head of the Lunt cemetery for the Durham Meeting House and also many other offices for the Durham Meeting House. Her desire was to follow the Lords' will in all that she did, including helping her brother and other family members.

Eileen is survived by her significant other, Tom Frye; her two brothers, Jerel and wife, Sheila Babcock, and Wilbert Babcock; her sister, Priscilla Wormwood and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Sylvia Babcock Davis.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Crosman Funeral Home from 4pm to 5pm. A service will immediately follow the visitation at Crosman Funeral Home at 5pm. A Memorial Resurrection service will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at 12:30pm at the Durham Friends Meeting House, 253 Quaker Meeting House Rd., Durham, ME, 04222. A burial will be held at a later date to be determined in the spring at Lunt Cemetery in Brunswick. A service of Crosman Funeral Home, Cremation and Monument Services, 40 Main St., Lisbon Falls, ME 04252. 353-4951.

Eileen and I started school together at the Bend School many years ago and throughout our school and neighboring years you would never find a more kind and gentle soul. I am very sad to hear of her passing.

My memory of Eileen is during famiy birthday parties for her niece, my daughter in law and others in the family. If I would see her at any other time, she would always stop and talk with me. Very pleasant person. My condolences to the family.
