Herbert L. Reed

1937-2023

Lisbon Falls – Herbert (Pete) L. Reed, age 85, of Lisbon Falls passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 10th at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. He was born on April 15th, 1937, son of George and Elizabeth Reed (Reithebuck). Pete was educated in Sabattus schools before joining the Military.

He was a proud military veteran, serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years and the National Guard for fourteen. During his time in the service, Pete received the “Soldier of the Half Year”, an award that recognized Pete’s achievements and dedication to his country.

Following his time in the Military, Pete married Gail MacInnes before moving to Lisbon Falls, where they were happily married until her passing. Pete served on both the Lisbon and Litchfield police departments. After retiring from law enforcement, Pete worked as a foreman for US Gypsum, and as the carpenter for the Town of Lisbon 1973. He was most proud of the work he did for a local construction company Hodgkin and Co. and was even able to share that for a few years with his son Scott.

Pete was extremely involved in his community and spent time as a member of the Androscoggin Budget Committee, the Lisbon school and advisory boards. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts and local Veterans of Foreign Affairs (VFW).

In his free time, Pete was also a HO Scale Model Rail Roader. He loved working on his model trains and recreating the Maine Central Railroad theme from the 50’s.

Pete is predeceased by his parents George and Elizabeth, wife Gail, brother Errol Reed, sisters Lucille Ruby and Joyce Small, and beloved son Steven Lee.

He will be greatly missed by his son Scott and Judy (Beaudoin) Reed of Lewiston, and daughter Juanita Wing and husband Steve Clark of Phippsburg. He also leaves behind his granddaughters Leslie Reed of Lewiston and Ashley Phillips of Saco.

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 21st at 9AM followed by an in-house service at 11AM.
