LEWISTON- Joseph JP Dube Jr., 77, of Lisbon, (lovely known as husband), passed away on September 4, 2025 at CMMC hospital. He was born on March 13, 1948, the son of the late Joseph Dube SR and Evelyn (Hendricks), in Lewiston, Maine.
Throughout his lifetime he worked a variety of jobs and was never long without an employer. A few of his long-time employers were with Geiger Brothers, Aubuchon Hardware, Paychex and NAPA. He attempted to retire at an earlier age but found that he was not one to remain out of work….go go go. So back to work he went for as long as he could.
He married Denise (Mathieu) Dube on August 13, 1983. Although some thought it would not last, due to a 15-year age difference….they happily celebrated their 42nd anniversary last month. Joe and Denise made it through all that was thrown at them, side by side, hand in hand.
He enjoyed tinkering in his garage with lawn mowers, snowblowers, tractors just to name a few. Back in the day he also enjoyed woodworking and making name plaques. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies, although this past year he was unable to do so, due to illness. The thing he loved most was sitting on his rocking chair on the front porch, listening to “real country music” from the old days. It was most enjoyed when Denise was able to be with him, by his side, rocking in her chair. He was looking forward to her early retirement so they could spend more time together.
Joe is survived by “wifey” Denise Dube of Lisbon, 2 children: Kelly Spencer and her husband Carleton of Lewiston; a son, Nathan Dube; one sister, Sandra Tardiff and her husband Gerry of Hartford; one brother, Calvin Dube of Lewiston; four grandchildren by his daughter Kelly; and 5 great grandchildren.
Some might not be aware of this but Joe truly loved animals. Having lost 2 cats in a house fire in March 2021, he was unable to forget them. Currently he had 2 cats, Scooby Do and Doobie Do, and he referred to them as “the children”. Sadly, he requested to see them on his last day and this was one request that went “unanswered”, but….his love for animals will continue. His pacemaker must be removed and rather than destroy it, it will be donated to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, where they are able to use it on animals. It was meant to be! His love for animals will go on.
A Memorial Service honoring Joseph’s life will be celebrated on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Cemetery Mausoleum in Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association OR Greater Androscoggin Humane Society online or mail to them at 55 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, Maine 04240. Arrangements by Crosman Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Lisbon Falls, Maine 353-4951. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at www.crosmanfuneralhome.com .
