

LISBON: Kenneth G. Hodgkins, Jr., 58, of Lisbon passed away Friday afternoon at his home while doing something he loved; preparing the house for a church outing. He was born in Bath on February 27, 1956, a son of the late Kenneth G. and Bessie (Parsons) Hodgkins, Sr. He grew up in the area and attended local schools, graduating from Mt. Ararat High School, class of 1974 and the University of Maine at Orono, class of 1978. After college, he helped run a cleaning company with his dad for several years before receiving his real estate license. He was self-employed as the owner of K&K Property Management and Bug Beaters Pest Control for the past 25 years. During that time, he married his wife Karen (Gehner) on April 15, 1989 at their home in Lisbon. Ken will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors including snowshoeing, geocaching, and hiking. Most nights he could be found watching whatever Boston sports game was on with a huge bowl of ice cream and several games of Words With Friends going. He was a true gentleman known for his kindness and generosity. His church and Savior were very important to him. He was extremely active at Lisbon Falls Baptist, where he was on the board of trustees, participated in the choir and taught several years of Sunday School. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Hodgkins of Lisbon, his five children; Katelyn Latouche and her husband Jordan of Houghton, NY, Kenneth G. Hodgkins, III of Portland, Nathan Hodgkins of Lubec, Charles “Matt” Smith and his wife Pamela of Lisbon and Jason Smith and his wife Meredith Swisher of Needham, MA. He also leaves behind three sisters; Bonnie Kirk and her husband Frank of Ohio, Barbara Goodwin of Texas, and Rita Dumont of North Carolina as well as three grandchildren; Harmony, Hayden and Jacob Smith. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Feb. 12 from 12-2pm at the Lisbon Falls Baptist Church 555 Lisbon St. Lisbon Falls followed by a celebration of his life at 2pm also at the church.
