

Lewiston - Norman P. Gamache, 92, of Lisbon Falls, passed away on Sunday July 14, 2013, at Russell Park Manor with his family at his side. He was born October 29, 1920 in Lisbon Center, a son of the late Edmond and Eva (Belanger) Gamache. He attended local schools graduating from Lisbon High School in the class of 1937. On June 21, 1941, he married the love of his life Gertrude Elcik at S.S. Cyril and Methodius Church. Together they worked and raised their young family in Lisbon Falls. Gertrude passed away in 2002. Norman worked most of his life at Pejepscot Paper Company as a foreman in the paper making division, before retiring in September of 1982 after 42 years. He was a member of Holy Family Church and then of Holy Trinity after the 3 Catholic Churches consolidated. He was an usher and collector at Church for many years. He loved hunting and fishing, but most all he enjoyed the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norman is survived by his two children: his son John (Jack) Gamache and wife Beth of Lisbon Falls, his daughter Nancy Kashmer and husband Larry of Eliot, Me., grandchildren: Nancy Jo and husband Joe Haarmann , Larry and wife Tricia Kashmer, Jonathan and wife Misty Kashmer, Becky and husband Bryan Davis, Derek and wife Ami Gamache, Loni Beth Knoedler and husband Larry, Great-grandchildren: Taylor and Matthew Kashmer, Johnna and Jenna Kashmer, Jonathan and Jordan Gamache and Trevor Knoedler, his sister Rita Leblond and husband Paul and sister in law Madelyn Gamache. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Gertrude, his brothers: Leo and Raymond Gamache, his sister Anna Elcik. The family would like to thank the staff at Russell Park Manor for the excellent care they gave their dad over the past five weeks. A special thanks to the Marshwood staff for the excellent care they provided dad over the past 2 years. We appreciate the care and companionship given to dad in the last year by Peg and Doris of Friends Alternative Care.
