WALES – Richard G. Waters, 87, went quietly to be with the Lord at his home on Friday, April 13, following a brief illness. He was born in Lawrence Massachusetts on April 8, 1931, the son of Raymond and Agnes Waters. He attended schools in Lewiston, Maine. Dick married Margaret Chase of Lisbon Falls on November 29, 1952. He built a home for them there – and he built on to it as his family grew. His family was important to him, and they spent many vacation weeks and weekends camping together. Members of South Lewiston Baptist Church since 1969, Dick and Margaret served together in many different areas – working with Word of Life youth, singing in the choir, and hosting small groups. Dick’s sense of humor and his quiet smile were a great encouragement to everyone around him. After several short-term employments, Dick was hired by Bath Iron Works in 1963. After his retirement in 1988, Dick found several ways to showcase his creativity through woodworking, painting, and stained glass work.

Dick is survived by his wife, Margaret; his sons, Richard Waters Jr. and wife Jane of Lisbon Falls, Robbie Waters and wife, Corina, of Lewiston, and Dean Waters and wife, Laura, of Wales; one Swedish daughter, Amanda Guy and husband John; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin.

Margaret, I know nothing I can say, will ease the pain and emptiness you are feeling now. All I can say , is...we have loved you and Dick as family. We share your tears in losing our dear friend, but rejoice in knowing he is with Jesus right now. I also believe Kevin and Dick are smiling down on you right now, waiting for you to join them, remembering that there is no time laps in Heaven. A second is like a thousand years .
Please know we are praying for you as you adjust to your new life without him. We will always remember all the good fun times we have shared. All the camping trips, youth trips, the many New Year parties, Living Waters and all the church outings, and all the skits and silly things that he and Bill have done, so long ago. We will be there tomorrow night to say good bye to Dick, but also to try and comfort you as well. I have chosen to give you some space, as I know how many people have surrounded you with love. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to loose your soul mate of 66 years.
All our love, Bill and Kathy
