Alice Mae Nelson, who was a beautiful person, peacefully passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 94 in Naperville, Illinois. She was born on July 5, 1929, in Evanston, Illinois, to the late Harry and Marie Krantz and then adopted by Lila and William McCollum. Alice was preceded in death by her son, Terry Nelson, and her sister, Katherine "Kitty" Phillips and her parents Lila and William McCollum..
Alice is survived by her devoted husband, Wallace Nelson, and their beloved children, Todd Nelson of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Tracy Nelson of Lisle, Illinois, and Tami Morrison of Howell, Michigan. She is also survived by her cherished sisters, Rose Kahlor and Linda Strangman, and her adored grandchildren, Chris Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Brad Morrison, Aryn Hueston, and Shane Morrison. Alice was blessed with eight treasured great-grandchildren, Kiera, Kaylee, Louella Mae, Landon, Saylor, Peyton, Ryder, and Lottie.
Alice received her education at Kelvyn Park High School and further pursued higher education at Stephens College earning an associates degree in Journalism. She had a rewarding career as a homemaker, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her family as a loving wife and mother. Alice also worked at the Chicago Tribune before having children and as a Leasing Agent for Glen Hill North for 5 years before retiring.
Outside of her commitments, Alice found solace and joy in her hobbies. She possessed a remarkable talent for painting, bringing to life beautiful works of art that captured the essence of her imagination. Alice also shared memorable experiences with her beloved husband of 73 years, Wally, as they embarked on various travels, exploring new destinations, enjoyed winter months in Florida, dancing and creating cherished memories.
