

Bernard J. Wojciak Jr., was born in Chicago on April 7,1953 and passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the age of 72. Bernie was a truly remarkable man whose warmth, zest for life, and generous spirit touched all who knew him. As a devoted family man, he treasured every moment spent with loved ones, often serving as the lively instigator of fun and laughter at gatherings and family holidays. His adventurous soul shone through in his passion for traveling, hiking, gardening, and fishing, consistently seeking new experiences and adventures.
A highly accomplished electronic engineer with the Chamberlain Group for nearly fifty years, Bernie earned multiple patents and was celebrated for his inventive mind. Beyond his professional achievements, he found joy in driving and attending car shows, building detailed models of classic muscle cars, and creating powerful, custom-amplified speaker systems to enjoy his favorite music. His lifelong friendships from Talman Avenue in Chicago remained a big part of his life, and his deep love for Laura, his beloved wife and best friend, brought him endless happiness, especially during their shared journeys.
He was also a cherished brother-in-law to, James (Susan) O’Connor, Joe (Andrea) O’Connor, uncle, and great-uncle, whose kindness, humor, and genuine nature left an indelible mark on his family and friends alike. He battled his illness with quiet strength and unwavering courage, selflessly bearing his struggles privately to shield his loved ones from worry.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard F. Wojciak and Estelle (nee Mlynek) Wojciak. His sister-in-law, Sharon (nee O’Connor) Schmidt, and brother-in-law, Mick Schmidt. Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave and the life he lived will remain in our memories and stories forever.
A visitation for Bernard will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln Ave, Lisle, IL 60532. A mass of christian burial will occur Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Julie Billiart Roman Catholic Church, 7399 W 159th St, Tinley Park, IL 60477. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 6001 W 111th St, Alsip, IL 60803.
