Dave was born on November 11, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois.
His first job out of high school was with Zenith Electronics Plant in Chicago where he worked until he was drafted into the army in 1965. Dave served as a Supply Parts Specialist for radio equipment at Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, Virginia. He served from 1965 to 1971 when he was honorably discharged.
Upon returning home, Dave learned his father was ill and became one of his main caregivers until his father’s passing in the fall of 1970.
Dave enjoyed a variety of careers throughout his life, such as; managing local restaurants, a runner at the Chicago Stock Exchange and various industrial positions. He retired from Dominick‘s grocery store in Bloomingdale after 16 years of service as an Overnight Stock Assistant.
Dave had a passion for the military, bowling, music and spending time with his friends, most of whom have known him for over 50 years. He was also a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Blinded Veterans Association and American Legion. Dave was also a life long, die-hard White Sox and Bears fan! He hoped both teams will win the big ones for him this year!
Dave is survived by his sisters; Joan Ebert, Marlene Sosa, 17 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Susan Potter (Felizak), brother Joseph Potter and sister Diane Shachter.
