Diane “Dee” R. Wiet passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2026, in Naperville. She shared 54 loving years of marriage with her devoted husband, John, who was her steady partner in life and in all the things she cared about most.
Dee had a deep love for nature and for animals of every kind. Her days were often spent down at the barn caring for her beloved horse Honey and her pony Trigger, tending to their many special needs with patience and dedication. Her cheerful cockatiel Woody filled the kitchen with joy, while her cherished dog Joey accompanied her on daily visits to the dog park. She treated every animal not as a pet, but as family. Even in the coldest frigid weather, Dee could be found outside feeding squirrels, cleaning stalls, and finding peace in the simple beauty of the outdoors.
She was also a beautiful piano and organ player who loved sharing music with the people she cared about. Friends and family often received heartfelt musical messages from Dee on birthdays and at Christmas, small gifts of melody that reflected her warmth and thoughtfulness. She was passionate about healthy organic living and extended that same care to her husband and her animals alike. What others might have seen as tiring barn chores, Dee saw as moments of purpose and happiness, often with John right beside her offering support and sharing in the life they built together.
There will be no formal services. In Dee’s memory, those who wish to honor her spirit are encouraged to support a local animal shelter, take a long walk outside, share a healthy meal, or simply pause for a deep breath of fresh air and think of her. Her kindness, her music, her devotion to the natural world, and the love she shared so freely will be remembered always.
