

Dorothy Marie Corley Riedl was called home to the Lord on September 17, 2022. Dorothy was born February 5, 1933 to Alice and Cleo Corley in Stronghurst, IL. She was the sixth child of eight. Her family moved to Burlington, Iowa where she attended high school. She was a scholar, receiving many awards in speech and debate for Burlington High School.
Dorothy married Herbert Edwin Riedl, in 1953, in Christ Lutheran Church in Oak Park, IL. Dorothy was a strong and faithful Christian. They were blessed with three children whom they raised in Mt. Prospect, IL. The family spent many vacations in Colorado, mountain climbing and skiing, where they marveled at God’s work, and then built a house in Grand Lake, Colorado.
Dorothy became a Registered Nurse, with an Associate Degree in Nursing, and later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Illinois University. She was an Operating Room Nurse and the first Exceptional Care Nurse for the State of Illinois focusing on the care of AIDS patients. Ed and Dorothy retired to Naperville, Illinois where she volunteered in many capacities, including tutoring children in reading.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years. She was the perfect wife and mother and will be missed very much. She is survived by her three children: Laura Kyle, Carrie Ford (Bryan) and John Riedl (Marina), 9 grandchildren: Matthew Kyle (Meagan), Emily Colborn (Kyle), Andrew Kyle, Bryan Ford Jr. (Stacey), Brett Ford (Abby), Morgan Riedl, Stephanie Riedl, Sydney Riedl, and Gregory Riedl; and seven great grandchildren. Dorothy was a strong and faithful Christian. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on October 8.
