Many are the memories that were shared and created when my family, myself, and my Great-Aunt Gerry came together. Only laughter was heard, stories were told, and the times were fun. There was never a boring moment when she was around. Aunt Gerry had taught my siblings and I many things; from how to play games we never heard of, (like “Michigan Rummy” and “Screw Your Neighbor” card games), to the importance of not wasting money. Aunt Gerry was the type of person who didn't sugar coat anything. She would always tell it how it was, especially if something was needed to be said. She was a straight arrow, no-nonsense, successful businesswoman, for whom everyone could relate to in some way and could learn from in many ways. I can only hope to live up to the high expectations that she had for my siblings and I. Although she didn't have any children of her own, she had always considered and treated my brother, my sister, and I as if we were her own. She definitely had lived up to her title as Great-Aunt.

I will forever miss you, Aunt Gerry, and I will never forget about you and how you were. The memories I have, I will always hold on to, cherish, and share them with future generations. Until we meet again, Aunt Gerry, may your soul be in peace.

I will always remember the memories that I have of my Aunt Gerry. Most of my memories are from card game nights. Once a week, every week, (in the 1990s and early 2000s), my grandparents, my two siblings, Aunt Gerry, Great-Grandma Doll, sometimes my cousin, and I came together and played whatever card game we decided to play that night; usually we ended up playing Michigan Rummy. We would have so much fun, so many laughs, and sometimes we even lost track of time. There was never a dull moment when Aunt Gerry was around. I will truly miss her. May you rest in peace, Aunt Gerry.

I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Gerry. Card game night at Great-Grandma Doll's place, Fourth of July barbecues at my grandparents' house in Mundelein, IL., and of course great-grandma Doll's 100th birthday party in 1998. That's where Aunt Gerry had my sister (Melissa), my cousin (Johanna), and I to help Dianne, (my dad's cousin), set up the room where we were having the party at. But the memory that comes to me as I write this is seeing Aunt Gerry at my grandfather's funeral, last year. As I walked back to my family's car, grief-stricken, I saw Aunt Gerry looking through her
car window at me. I waved and smiled; she acknowledged with also a wave and a smile. This memory regenerates to me not only because it's the last time I saw her, but because she came to my grandfather's funeral, despite her own health problems. That's the kind of person she was: loving, caring, generous and selfless. That's the Aunt Gerry I will always remember and everyone who's lives were touched by her will always remember, as well. Anyone that knew her, (family, friends, and acquaintances), can take comfort in knowing that we all have a special guardian angel watching over us. She was a loving Great-Aunt and Godmother to me. I will truly miss her.

Geri, earth may have lost you, but heaven has gained a lively, loving spirit. You have touched many, many lives in a positive way, it was an honor to have known you!

POGO,a game you play on the computer. You pay a yearly fee of some amount and you can play against other POGO fans.  Aunt Geri loved this game.  She did't care about hardware or software, memory or disc space. She cared only that she could play her game.  My husband, Ken, her nephew, took care of all of Geri's computer issues.  Our phone would ring, "Geri can't play her POGO" Ken would say.  He would sign in and fix the problem.  Geri loved that game.  She loved it almost as much as she loved Harriett, her family, her dogs and a good political dicussion.  As she lay on her death bed, she said to Harriet, "don't forget to get a refund from POGO".  That is the Geri we all know and love. She will dearly missed.

Aunt Gerry - we are truly blessed to have been a part of your life. You're a rock with a loving heart and a gentle soul. You helped us, without hesitation, when we needed help. Bringing family together. Touching so many hearts, in so many ways. You were taller than life. Always fun to be with. Sharing your passion for baseball. Showing your love for God's four-legged friends. And when entertaining, making sure we never went thirsty. There are many fond memories we've shared, two of which were the Fourth of July softball games and after dinner card games - which both sometimes became a little bit animated, challenging, but fun. And there were many laugh-out loud moments as well, always putting a smile on our faces and a tear in our eye. And thank you for bringing Harriet into our lives - we are blessed to have known her. You celebrated a life well lived, keeping in tune with your faith. We love you and will miss you always, but we'll be comforted by the love you shared with us all. You will always be in our prayers.

Gerry the Greater!  You will always be!  So many good memories! So many good times.  So many good visits.  You’ve taught us so much - Las Vegas Nights!  Dominoes!  Anything healthy or green is bad. You were our direct link to God!  You always knew the right saint to pray to and to intercede on our behalf for whatever our needs or requests were. Always true to your word – our first house guests in Texas!  Playing Gin!  Before dinner cocktails. Noisy concentrator – but Bob took care of that!  Winstar! Shreveport, LA.  Lots of laughs even when breathing became a challenge.  Easy to feed – chips ahoy, peanut butter cookies.  You brought so many good people into our lives – thanks for sharing them all.  Until we meet again…..

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
