You were such a huge  part of our lives many years ago but we have never forgotten you nor stopped loving you. We laughed and cried together thru grammar school and high school, whether at prom, doing homework, hanging out on the corner, life was so much fun because of you in it.  Our teen years would never have been so filled with laughter and good times without you a major part of it all. You came to memory so many times and always a part of the best times of our lives growing up. I was cheated out of saying good bye to you as I found out of your passing  too late. Altho   we grew apart thru the years your memory will always be a big part of our lives. My sympathies to your family who I know will miss you so much. We love you, Gina.

We always said that Gina was our most favorite "village person" and we were so very shocked to read of her memory on the FireDept sign as we were coming home from vacation.  We still are in shock....Gina is truly one of those special people that God Blessed us with on Earth.  May she rest in peace, and our Prayers are with her family & friends.

"As the Community Ambassador for the Glenside Public Library District, I had the good fortune of working with Gina for the last several years on several village committees.  She always brought her smiling face and can do attitude to every project , . . . I really enjoyed working with her and I will greatly miss her.  I met her first as the Manager of the Youth Services Department and she interviewed me for the local cable access channel.  She was so warm and caring and this really helped, as this was my first interview for television.  I know that she is now with God.  My condolences go out to her husband and her family. I knew Gina mostly through the Sports Hub swim team and she was a true delight to be around.  Whether it was at 5:30am or a late Wednesday night meet, she always had a smile on her face and was so uplifting.  Everything from the hot dogs at the concession stand to the swimmers was deluxe and I can still remember her announcing at all the meets.

I am truly blessed to have known Gina and will forever remember her positive attitude on life.  

To the Thorson family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.  I hope you know that Gina inspired many and touched so many lives, she will never be forgotten!

Our family has so many wonderful memories of Gina at the Sports Hub and the swimming pool. Her smiling face and hugs for everyone were a delight to all who walked through the door.  She made all who met her feel good about themselves and she was an inspiration to so many. I feel so blessed that our family had the opportunity to work with her at swim meets and see the caring and compassion that was Gina! Even though we no longer live in the village, we will never forget how she made each of us feel "deluxe." Our condolences go out to the Thorson family and all her many friends and co-workers.  She will not be forgotten and we are all better people because we knew Gina!!

Gina Thorson is an example of what every human being should try to aspire to.  Not only did she “Love to see your face” but everyone's face.  She took time to connect with so many people in such a personal way. Weather it was a professional or personal problem Gina always had made time to listen to others and give them support. Gina could lift your sprits just by entering the room with her warm smile and charismatic charm.  Gina had a contagious passion for life; she shared that gift of passion with others.

Gina Thorson changed my life.  It was her who spent several hours with me on the phone and in person, talking me into going back to college at forty.  She inspired me with the stories she told me of her own experiences of going back to school later in life to do the job that she was so dedicated to and loved.  

Gina taught me one lesson I will never forget.  Always, call someone when you get the urge to.  Her name came up in a conversation I was having  a couple of weeks ago, I was going to call her to let her know it was her inspiration that helped me to complete the last three years of school and I am graduating this year.  Unfortunately, I did not take that time to connect with her to thank her and let her know how much she helped me change my life.  

I can comfort in knowing that now her family, and all of Glendale Heights has a special guardian angel to watch over all of us. Gina is an example of a life well lived. We will cherish the memories she made for us, forever.

How do you replace a sister.  Holidays are never the same without the "woman" of the house.  Holidays at Phil and Gina's house were just amazing.  Gina and Phil are amazing people.  Phil my brother in law, YOU ARE DELUXE.  Gina my sister, I Love Your Face.  And although we live miles and miles apart, I always knew you were there.  Now, knowing you're not is devastating. Dear Thorson Family,
Having known Gina as both an Americana parent,and a terrific representative for the Village of Glendale Heights, I extend my deepest sympathy to all. Whenever I saw Gina she always gave me a hug and we talked about old times. She always had her camera ready to take pictures. Our school is currently raising money for the LLS and I have made a donation in her memory through our school. Heaven just got a lot brighter. She will be missed.
