I was an occasional acquaintance of Hugh Hill. I remember his enjoyment of the Senior Coffee at McDonald's in Lisle.

Jenny and family: I will always have fond memories of your dad both from SSPP days and television. I know my father held him in high esteem and talked about how he does not beat around the bush and” tells it like it is". I know it is hard but if I can do anything please let me know. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

God blessed HUGH with a tremendous talent and a voice to handle it. We will miss you here on earth. Maybe you & Chuck can play a few great rounds of golf up there. Love to all the family.

To The Family of Hugh D. Hill,
My sincere expressions of sympathy on the passing of your Father. While I did not know him personally, I did met him several times and always enjoyed his concise, spirited style of interviewing and commentary. Certainly, he contributed much to enhancing public knowledge of events and persons, as well as providing the global environment of media communications with the type of messaging that informed and laid the groundwork for scrutiny. His descriptions were stated precisely in providing what the public needed to know and hear from their news commentators. May the Good Lord grant all of you the blessings of beautiful memories and comfort in the legacy of Mr. Hill has left to the broadcasting world. Peace.

Sincerely,
Joseph F. Gartner

Hugh and I were classmates at the J-School of the University of Missouri and often drank beer together at nearby watering holes in those days. During his brilliant Chicago career we sometimes reminisced and stayed in touch until some years ago. He will be remembered with fondness. A great guy and an excellent journalist!
