James Michael Winz

The loving family of James (Jim) Michael Winz are saddened to announce his passing on February 16th, 2024. Jim was a loving partner, father, brother, and son. Born to Max James Winz and Susan Lee Winz of Lisle, Illinois, Jim was the oldest of their five children.

Jim was a committed and loving partner to Julie Puls of Naperville who’s love, commitment, and care for Jim brightened his world until the very end.

He is survived by his sons, James Michael Winz, Jr. (17) and Jonah Ryan Winz (15) and their mother, Bridget (O’Reilly) Winz. Jim is also survived by his loving mother, Susan Lee Winz, brothers Daniel Lee Winz and Stephen Andrew Winz, his sisters Robin Elizabeth Winz and Jocelyn Winz (Eric) Jones, as well as his nephews Danny Winz and Paxton Jones and his niece Delaney Winz. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Max James Winz.

Jim loved his hometown of Lisle and had fond memories of playing football and wrestling for the Lisle Lions. Jim excelled at both— even receiving a scholarship to play football for Illinois State University. In recent years Jim has enjoyed watching both his sons grow up and become wrestlers themselves. His greatest pride and joy are his boys, and his greatest regret is missing them grow into the great men they are becoming.

Jim was a man of great faith and would ask that you pray for his sons to be watched over and lifted up by the love and support of God, family, and their community.

Friends and family will gather for services for Jim that will be held on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Resurrection Church of the Fox Valley, 4054 Fox Valley Center Drive, Aurora, Illinois 60504, with a private Celebration of Life following the service.

The family requests that any memorial donations be made to the James Michael Winz Living Trust at Chase Bank to help support his boys as they learn to navigate this life without their father.
