With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Jay Charles Fodor, a cherished husband, devoted father, an older brother, and a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Jay was born on September 13, 1968, in Brookfield, Illinois, and suddenly passed away on May 29, 2026.
Jay was a man of many talents and passions, known for his loyalty and strong work ethic. He began his professional journey in the automotive industry right out of high school, eventually rising to the position of parts manager at Continental Nissan. Later, he changed careers and enthusiastically joined the crew at the Home Depot store in Woodridge, where he was admired for his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Jay's colleagues fondly remember his outstanding dedication to the Home Depot team.
On June 24, 1995, Jay married the love of his life, Pam, in a beautiful ceremony in Hinsdale. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, marked by 31 wonderful years together. They built a joyful life, raising their beloved daughter, Emma, who was a source of great pride in Jay's life. Jay's love for his family was boundless, and he experienced great joy in the life they created together.
Outside of his professional life, Jay was a man of diverse interests. He was a talented cook, known for whipping up delicious meals that became the centerpiece of many family gatherings. His green thumb was evident in the many hot peppers that grew in his backyard and that were used in homemade hot sauces. Jay and his daughter Emma shared a passion for softball. Jay supported their love for the sport by coaching her team for 8 years.
Jay is survived by his loving wife, Pam Fodor; his cherished daughter, Emma Fodor; his sister, Terri McConnell; his cousin, Betty Klanda; and his faithful four-legged companion, Gizmo. Though he leaves behind no grandchildren, the countless lives he touched and the memories he created will endure for generations.
A service to celebrate Jay's life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale, located at 11 W Maple St, Hinsdale, IL 60521. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale or the West Suburban Humane Society, reflecting Jay's enduring commitment to his community and his love for animals.
Jay's memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
