Born on September 9, 1941, in Liverpool, England, Joan was the cherished youngest of eight siblings. From a young age, she embraced life with passion, combining her work as a secretary by day with the joy of dancing to The Beatles at the iconic Cavern Club on weekends. Her adventurous spirit took her on travels across Europe, where she relished moments such as sipping champagne along the serene banks of the Seine in Paris.
In London, Joan met Emil Pfeiffer and they united in marriage on January 29, 1964. Together, they embarked on a journey to the United States in the 1960s, where Joan fell in love with her new home. She took immense pride in becoming a U.S. citizen on November 19, 1974. After settling in Medford, Oregon, she brought her warm spirit to the local hospital, working as a ward clerk while raising their two beloved children, Paul and Ann. Tragically, Emil passed away in 1973, a loss that left a deep impact on Joan’s life.
In 1975, Joan found love again with Maurice McIntyre, who brought two children, Brad and Christi, into their blended family. Joan moved to Tigard, Oregon, where she lovingly guided all four children, instilling values of kindness and resilience.
As the years went by, Joan and Maurice embraced retirement in the stunning surroundings of Florence, Oregon. There, she found joy in the rugged beauty of the West Coast, and being from Liverpool, the rain felt like a comforting reminder of home. Joan’s warmth, love, and strength will be profoundly missed. She was preceded in death by Maurice McIntyre, and she leaves behind a loving family, including Christi Pringle, Brad McIntyre, Paul Pfeiffer, and Dr. Ann Carpenter, who carry forward her spirit of compassion and joy.
Memorial potluck brunch in memory of Joan will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at 555 Lowden Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Please bring a favorite dish to share, a lawn chair, and your fondest memories. Causal attire, warm hearts, and open arms.
