I just found out about this via sorry to hear of Joel's passing. I've known him since 1960 when my family first moved to Woodridge. He did so much for the town he loved and will be greatly missed. I had the pleasure of knowing him personally for many years - he was active in Scouting as well and always made a meaningful contribution no matter the organization. He helped me so much years ago as a Circuit Court clerk and was very much a hands-on mayor as well as capable chief of police.
Rest in peace, Joel - my heartfelt condolences to your family.

Kagann Family, I just found out about Joel's passing. I have so many great memories of Joel. He was a great man that I always looked up to. He was a great friend as well as a customer. We loved doing all his flowers for the family all those years. How proud you must be that you had a husband, a father, a friend that was a great example of what a true Chritian Man. Bless you all. Mrs Kagann and family,
I had the pleasure of knowing Joel as a fellow Circuit Clerk. He was such an asset to our organization, always sharing knowledge, talent, and good times with each of us. What a treasure he was to know. My heart aches, but I know the heart of heaven has just expanded beyond measure as Joel gets his wings. Love to all. Sandy Parker

My wife and I met Chief Kagann in December of 1963, just 4 months after we moved to town. I had just caught a 16 year old "clothes line thief" and Chief Kagann explained to the boy's father in no uncertain terms that suing me for holding his son against his will while the police were summoned was "not a good idea." I was 19 at the time and legally a minor also.

While identifying many articles of women's underclothes from our clothes line (including my mother-in-law's girdle) we got to see the wonderful sense of humor Chief Kagann possessed.

We have always been proud to have been among those who "wrote in" Joel Kagann's name to elect him mayor and strongly supported his efforts to acquire the golf course to act as a watershed.

Although we still live in town, we have not been in touch for years. Our memories today are as fresh as the day we first met.

In our opinion Joel Kagann set the groundwork for all the good things subsequent mayors have accomplished.
