Rebecca (Becky) was born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 26th, 1957. She grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois, and lived all of her life in DuPage County. Becky had a 43-year career with United Airlines where she did almost every job except fly the plane, or work as a flight attendant. It is at United where she met an army of friends, many who shared her passion for travel. They visited England, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy and Greece. When asked about her favorite place to travel internationally, it would be the island of Santorini, Greece located in the southern Agean Sea. She traveled to many US cities and especially liked New Orleans, Las Vegas and San Francisco. But her favorite place to visit was Grand Beach, Michigan, where the family’s vacation cottage is located. While traveling, she enjoyed the local cuisine and took food and wine tours. If there were a special attraction in the area, it was included in the itinerary, as well. Becky cooked many special family recipes and baked dozens upon dozens of chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies at Christmastime. Anyone who met Becky would soon enjoy her unique sense of humor. She looked at the bright side of just about any situation and found the good in all.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Beverly (Keleher) Nunn, grandparents and one aunt and three uncles. She is survived by her husband, Mark Votava, sons Benjamin (Sophie), David and Robert Votava. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy (Garry) Marlow. Family was always top priority with Becky and she will be missed not only by her many friends but by an uncle in Florida, an aunt in Delaware, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Becky’s life will take place this summer. If you would like to make a donation in her name, a charitable organization of your choice would certainly appreciate it.
