In honor and loving memory of Robert Benedict Campbell, husband to Mary Jane (Colombo) (deceased), father to Tiffany and Robert Benedict II. Bob was a supportive and true friend to many and will be missed dearly by all he touched. Bob’s passions and talents as a teacher, outdoorsman and protector made a positive and lasting impact everyone he met. As a father and husband, he was unsurpassed in his love and dedication to his family. As a teacher, he was kind and thoughtful-
recommending natural remedies, providing sound advice, and a dose of good fashioned honesty when needed. He was an amazing storyteller, holding his audiences captive with tales of adventure, each story having a lesson learned he wished to pass onto others. Bob had a natural gift as a fixer- his analytical and problem-solving skills allowed him to tune an engine, diagnose a plumbing problem, and be a good listener to a friend in need. He could really fix anything,. As an outdoorsman, he respected and loved nature- he taught anyone who wanted to learn about fishing, camping, hiking, and enjoying the world. He loved shooting- not to hunt, but to hone a skill he loved, to enjoy a community of others who enjoyed the sport, and to practice technical expertise. As a protector, he offered safety and comfort to those who needed support, and provided undying affection and care to his family. He walked a road of native strength and spoke from his heart. He will be dearly missed.
Bob attended Lyden High School, obtaining a football scholarship but losing it to injury. After high school, he made a decision to join the army before he was drafted. It was then he met the love of his life, Mary Jane. They courted through mail while Bob was deployed to Germany. Upon his return, they married. Bob started his plumbing business, and through hard work and dedication, had a very successful time. His two children, Tiffany and Robert, benefited from Bob and Mary’s hard work and affection. Bob taught Tiff and Rob how to fish, camp, and work on cars. As Tiff and Rob grew, Bob continued on with his desire to teach; he loved passing knowledge onto others and watch them develop. He dedicated his life to his family and provided his daughter and son college educations and a life philosophy to succeed. Bob and Mary lived in happiness, and begun to enjoy their success. They started to traveling to Europe and embraced their hobbies, and truly enjoyed each other’s company.
Unfortunately, after a battle with cancer, his beloved wife Mary died. Bob was devastated and had to rebuild his life without his soul mate, business partner and best friend. Bob’s love for the outdoors led him to an interest in Native American philosophies, and a wider circle of good friends. Bob continued to learn, grow, and teach. After 5 years, he found a companion and remarried. He moved to Seattle, Washington to be closer to the outdoors he enjoyed so much. Bob died on a quiet Friday afternoon, while on his back porch watching his faithful dogs, cats, ducks and chickens. We know heaven received him like the true heart and warrior he was.
