He was born in Spring Valley on April 18,1959 to Antoinette and Ronald V. Liss.
Ronald was preceded in death by his mother Antoinette and father Ronald and is survived by his wife of 35 years Sheila, and his three children Ryan (his wife McKenzie Shroyer), Connor (his wife Megan Behnke) and Kelsey (Kevin Mazur).
For 35 years, he shared a deep and enduring love with his beloved wife - the partner of his life, his steady companion, and his greatest source of strength. Their marriage was built on commitment, resilience, and unwavering support. Through life’s triumphs and challenges, they stood side by side, creating a home filled with warmth, encouragement, and love. He cherished her deeply and never took for granted the life they built together over three and a half decades.
He was a proud father of three - his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. He spoke often of his children’s achievements, never missing an opportunity to share how proud he was of the paths they chose and the dedication they showed. As a father of an engineer and lawyers, he admired not only their professional success but the discipline, integrity, and perseverance that carried them there. Whether he was cheering from the sidelines, offering steady advice, or simply sharing a laugh at the dinner table, he showed up with unwavering love and dedication. He believed in education, hard work, and doing things the right way. He led by example - teaching his children to be curious, resilient, and steady under pressure. To him, their accomplishments were not measured by titles alone, but by the character and compassion they demonstrated every day.
He began working at just 13 years old at Happy’s Garage, pumping gas and cleaning the car wash bays on Saturdays. He worked his way up to manager and tow truck driver - always the one people could count on when they were stuck. He was never one to stop learning. He trained in CAD and spent many years as a draftsman before transitioning into IT. He worked for numerous companies across the Chicagoland area, building a reputation for reliability and skill. But beyond any job title, he was everyone’s IT guy - helping friends, family, and neighbors, always working for treats like oatmeal pies.
He was set to retire on February 27, 2026, closing a chapter that began when he was just a boy.
He proudly cheered for the Green Bay Packers. Game days were filled with excitement, spirited commentary, anxiety, and the unmistakable green and gold. Through victories and defeats, his loyalty never wavered, and he passed that passion onto all three of his children. A lifelong car enthusiast, and proud '66 Ford Bronco owner, he found happiness as an avid fan of IndyCar, never missing a chance to watch the speed, strategy, and skill that made the sport interesting to him.
Friends and family will remember his steady presence, and the way he could strike up a conversation with anyone - often about his children's careers, the Packers' playoff hopes, or racing stats. He believed in showing up for the people he loved, and he did so with consistency and heart.
Though his passing was sudden and far too soon, his legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely.
