Bolivia Lynn Young, 51, of Little Rock, Passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019. Preceded in death by her father, Gene Young Sr. and her brother, Gene Young Jr. She is survived by her mother, Mattie Bea Young, two sisters Joyce Young (caregiver) and Deatrich Greenwood both of Mabelvale and one brother, Kenneth Young (Teresa) of Little Rock.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Gaines Street Baptist
Church, where she served on the Usher board. She graduated from Hall High in 1985 where she delivered the “Welcome" at the Baccalaureate exercises. She later attended University of Batesville, then transferred to UALR where she received her Bachelor of Business Administration on 8/24/91.
She served in the US Army during Desert Shield and Desert Storm as a Laboratory Specialist. She received the Army Service Ribbon, Army Lapel Button, National Defense Service Medal and the Army National Guard Recruiting Buckle.
Bolivia loved to travel. She would travel and always send postcards, pictures and
souvenirs. One of the most fascinating places she visited was Alaska, where her Uncle
Curtis and family lived. After graduating she moved to San Jose, California. She attended Maranatha
Christian Center where the pastor is Dr. Anthony Williams in 1998.
She volunteered as a tutor in MCCs tutoring program [Book Academy] and was on the
count team for over a decade. She was really active in Sunday School as well, until
the latter stages of her illness. She was a substitute teacher in the Alum Rock
District, then was hired at Shepard Middle school as a teacher for at risk students
for the district. Then Bolivia taught at O.B. Whaley Elementary School in Evergreen
from 1992-2011 where she retired.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 6-8 at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home, 5800 West 12th St. in Little Rock. Funeral service will be Saturday, at 11:00 on July 27, 2019 at St. Mark Baptist Church on 12th St. in Little Rock. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
