April 18, 1929 – November 28, 2018
Alta Lorraine (Little) Hale, 89, of Little Rock, peacefully departed this Earth on a crisp and sunny fall morning on Wednesday, November 28, with her daughter by her side. “God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.”
Alta was born in Little Rock. She spent much of her early years in California, when her mother moved the family west to find work during the Great Depression, before later returning home to Arkansas.
While a teenager she worked as an usher in a movie theater, and spent two sneeze-filled days gluing feathers on arrows in an archery factory. When grown she spent time keeping the books for her husband's company, before focusing on the full-time job of raising her only child.
Alta was fond of animals, providing love and care to many a stray in need of help and a home. She was generous with her time, and always willing to drive a friend to the doctor or a hairdresser appointment. We will miss her kindness and her wit, her spirit and her strength, her guidance and her love.
Alta is preceded in death by her husband Otis, parents Helen Huff and William Little, brother Thomas Little, sister Angie Meyer, good friend Zwia Weiss, and cherished pets Chigger, Pete, Illya, Isaac, Mike, Tom, Rusty, Susie, Eric, Jennifer, Casey, Cybil, Gracie, and Molly. She is survived by her daughter Sherry Boyd and husband Craig; niece Carolyn McAllester; cousin Billie Duff; grandniece Angelia DiCicco and husband Steve; grandniece Annette Jones and husband Sammy; great-grandniece Shanan Crowder; great-grandnephew Shawn Mayfield; great-grandnephew Sam Jones, Jr.; and her cats, Baby and Cissy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Feline Rescue and Rehome (http://www.teamfurr.org) or another Arkansas-based animal welfare organization, or to Primrose United Methodist Church (https://www.primroseumc.org).

There are still so many things I wish I had asked you or told you, Alta. So many ways I could have been a better son-in-law. Thank you for your kindness and your love. Thank you for making me a welcome part of the family, and thank you for giving me Sherry. I promise I will care for her in every way she deserves.
