Born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Edward J. and Charlotte Stiles Keele; where she was the third in line out of five girls, Francis, Eddie, Pat and Peg.
Betty was a devoted mom to Gary Edward and daughter-in-law Lynne McCarty Claude; and her and Harold’s youngest son David Lee who proceeded them both in death, but was never forgotten. Betty loved being a mom and a housewife to her son and husband. She gave them her all for many years and eventually went to work part time for Highway Department and RPM Realty, but she still always put her family first.
Betty “Nonnie” was a loving grandmother to granddaughter, Keeley Claude Dorrell (Dennis); grandson, Gary Edward Claude, Jr (Melissa); and great-grandmother to (7) great-grandchildren, Brantley Dorrell Maness (Colby), Mikaela Ann Dorrell, Dennis Carlton Dorrell III “Trey”, Isabella Brooke Dorrell “Bella”, Booker Edward Claude, Piper Keeley Claude, Remi Shaele Claude. All of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved her and will miss her very much.
A long-time member of Markham Street Baptist, she could often be found in the prayer room or the kitchen where she served for many years. She loved her church and her church family, and they brought great comfort during those first few years after Harold’s passing.
Other past times included working in her yard, staying fit by walking laps around Park Plaza Mall and then following that up with a sausage biscuit at McDonalds. An avid Razorback fan you could always find her around a TV or a radio when the Hogs were playing. The fact that her beloved Hogs won Saturday, she at least went with that win. Woo Pig Sooie!
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." – Micah 6:8. This is how my grandmother lived her whole life.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arkansas Hospice for all that they did for our mother and grandmother. And to our parents who selflessly cared for Nonnie, Gary Jr and I will never be able to thank you enough for showing us God’s Love through your grace and servanthood.
Services will be held Friday, October 23, 2020 at 1:00 pm, at Markham Street Baptist Church with a private grave side service for the family to follow at 2:30 pm at Pine Crest Cemetery.
