Mrs. Bettye J Smith

Bettye Jean Smith, 88 died peacefully surrounded by her family November 9,2019. Bettye was born in Banks Arkansas on March 7,1931. After graduating high school she married Wesley R. Smith in 1952 and would begin a life of travel courtesy of the U.S. Army. After her husband’s retirement they settled in Little Rock. Bettye was preceded in death by her husband Wesley R Smith; parents Reather Van and Carrie Bernice (Adams) Hamaker; brother Lester Van Hamaker; sisters Vada Batie and Perry Dewitt. She is survived by her son Wesley D Smith (Becky), daughters Diane Andersen (Brad), Jeanne Shirley, and Pam Marr. Grandchildren (who affectionately called her Nanny) Lauren Raney(Sam), Andrew Smith, Nick Andersen (Michelle), Jeanna Sanders (Chris), John Kienlen, Shonda Coley(David), Brian Anderson (Michelle) and Matt Anderson. She also is survived by 11 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home in Little Rock and a graveside service will be Wednesday at 10:00 am at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock.
