Bobby Joe King, 84, went to be with Lord May13, 2019. He was born to John Stanley and Myrtle (Scott) King on June 26, 1934 in Mabelvale, AR. After graduating from Mabelvale High School, he entered the army and served valiantly in Korea. Upon his discharge, Bobby entered Draughn School of Business where he attained a degree in Accounting and also met the love of his life, Catherine Sandage. Bobby said he had a drivers license, an accounting license, a securities license, and an insurance license, but his most important license was his marriage license. Their union was blessed with a daughter Jennifer Lynn and a son Bruce Jeffery. Bobby spent several years working very successfully in the insurance industry before operating BJ King Accounting for over forty years, where he valued and cherished all his clients. He heeded a mid-life call to the ministry, and spent the last half of his life serving the Lord in many capacities. He logged countless hours performing prison outreach counseling, going on mission trips, working closely with those dealing with alcohol and drug addiction issues, and trying to help everyone he encountered to reach a better, happier place in life. He was an avid golfer, a voracious reader, an enthusiastic amateur guitarist, a wickedly talented card player, and a fantastic and loving grandfather. His happiest times were spent with his church family, hearing and preaching the word of God, and especially being part of Growing in Grace at St. Andrew’s. He considered them a very special and precious part of his life.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, john Stanley and Myrtle Mae King, his son Bruce Jeffery King, his five adult siblings: sister and second mother Leona Michels, Cola Crabb, Ward King, Peggy Venable, and Doris Franklin, and by siblings Bill and Lucy King who passed away In infancy. He’s survived by his wife of sixty-three years Catherine King, his daughter Jennifer (Joe) Barnett, grandchildren Stephanie king, Joseph Barnett, Timothy (Caylie) Barnett, Nathan Barnett, Joshua (Claire) Barnett, Mia Barnett, Naomi Barnett, and Ellie Freeman along with a host of nieces, nephews, and his church family.

My sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Bj King...it was an honor to of known him. Bj was our accountant for over 20 years and became a friend. He loved life and loved the LORD...
After loosing my husband Robert Ellis, the one and only Love of my Life just 10 months ago, we talked about him and Mrs. King on how long they had been married which is rare but what a BLESSING. Bj helped me with so many things and he always took out time for me.
I recently have visited Mr. King in the Hospital for the past 6 weeks, going once a week just to say hello and hold his hand being he couldn't talk I always prayed with him before leaving and he would squeeze my hand just to say Thank you, I would assure him everything would be alright.
I went today but he wasn't there,he went to be with our LORD.
Mr. King will be greatly missed but I'm so glad to say WE WERE FRIENDS AND I'LL SEE HIM AGAIN!

Bobby became our accountant in 1980 and remained our accountant even doing our personal taxes in February. We will miss him. He was a great friend to Ron & Marge Lemmons and preached at both their funerals. Our love, thought and prayers go to you, Cathy, know we are thinking of you this day. Stan & Kitty

He shared the same office building with us. He took care of our business accounting needs. Very nice and his family were always courteous. My condolences to the family.

Dear King family,

I just want you to know that Bro. Bobby has a very special place in mine and my husband heart. We have been going to GIG for about two years now and fell in love with Bro. Bobby and his beautiful wife. I know every time we go to GIG Bro. Bobby will always be there with us. My God bless you and keep you in his loving arms in your time of healing.

I knew the family from church and Bobby, Cathy, Jenny & Joe were/are all wonderful people. I worked for the Kings during tax season in 1988 right before a move out of state. I so wish that I could be there during this time, but know that he is walking the streets of gold in heaven now. I love and miss the family and will keep them in prayer during this difficult time.

Kathy; It’s with sorrow that Kitty and I heard from OD today that Bobby had been taken home to our Father, the Almighty, where he awaits to greet all of us one great day. The Spirit of God whet’s our appetite by giving us a taste of what’s ahead, as He did Bobby. And, when we can no longer settle for less, we cry out to Him, bring me home! Kitty and I love you, and praying for you, Jennifer, Joe and family. We can’t make it to the funeral because of health. May His face shine upon all of you.
