Charles Allen Hunter, 49, of Little Rock, departed this life on September 22, 2025, following a sudden cardiac event. Allen was born on September 2, 1976, to the late Billie Joyce Hunter Cogburn and David Hunter.
Allen graduated from Arkadelphia High School and attended Pulaski Technical College. In the late 1990s, he moved to Little Rock to begin what became a long and successful career in hospitality. While Allen worked at many restaurants and hotels throughout the city, he will be fondly remembered as the heartbeat of the lunch crew at Cheers in the Heights.
Allen’s larger-than-life personality, love of music, joy for life, and sense of adventure are the memories that will carry his family and friends through the loss of this bright light. He had a gift for making people feel special and loved, and those who knew him will hold tight to the laughter and happiness he brought to every room.
He leaves to cherish his memory, life partner, Wayne Pyland; sisters, Lisa Hunter-Ford (Tom) and Christine Bank; half-brother, Chase Hunter (Lisa); half-sister, Lauren Hunter; niece, Nikki House; nephews, Shane House and Jeremy Johnson. Special family friends: John Pyland (Deborah), Haley Westerman (Jim), Madeline McKenzie (Reid), Evan Pyland (Emily), Cheers in the Heights family, Trio’s family and countless close and personal friends who are too numerous to list.
Allen and Wayne shared a deep love for animals, especially their many rescue dogs. In his memory, donations may be made to CARE for Animals, P.O. Box 7604, Little Rock, AR 72207, or online at careforanimals.org/donate.
