Dephane Free, 99, of Little Rock passed away March 31, 2025. She was born January 12, 1926 in Faulkner County, Arkansas to the late Daniel and Floy (Hoggard) Small. In addition to her parents, Dephane was welcomed into Heaven by her husband of 60 years, JL Free; son, Paul G. Free; grandson, Kyle Free; and siblings, Jesse Small, Montene Satterfield, Daniel Small Jr., and Barbara Dolittle Taylor.
Dephane was a devoted follower of Christ and an active member of River of Life Assembly of God. She exemplified the qualities of a true Christian woman: loving, gentle, selfless, and always ready to help others. Family was everything to her, and she cherished the time spent with the four generations that followed her. Known as a wonderful grandmother, Dephane possessed many talents, including sewing, crocheting, and cake decorating. However, her most remarkable skill was her green thumb. She had a deep love for growing anything that bloomed, and even in her final weeks, Dephane could often be found tending to her garden and pulling weeds.
Those left to cherish the memories of Dephane include her children, Geleeta Collins and Dewayne Free; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brother, Ansel Wayne Small; and extended family that will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2025 at River of Life Assembly of God in Mabelvale. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service, 10:30 a.m., at the church. Dephane will be laid to rest at Forest Hills at a later date.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice and the Arkansas Longevity Center.
