Dorothy Elizabeth Brasfield Bird went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2020. She was born on January 9, 1921, to Burrus and Mildred Killingsworth Brasfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, and sister, and by her husband of 41 years, James Edgar Bird.
She is survived by her daughter Judy (Bill) Starrett, her son James Edgar Bird, Jr.; four grandchildren: Amy (P.D.) Moseley, Joshua Bird, James Bird, and Katie (Alex) Gruenwald; eight great grand-children: Taylor and Kyle Pennington, Atleigh, Michael, Lukas, and Penny Gruenwald, Aiden and Delilah Bird.
Dorothy grew up in Dumas, Arkansas, attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA), and moved to Little Rock where she met and married her husband on June 14, 1942. She worked at Southern National Insurance Co., Union Insurance Co., the Arkansas Cancer Commission, and retired from the Arkansas Health Department as an administrative assistant in 1984.
She was an active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church for as long as she could attend, and was a faithful visitor at Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved all animals and donated to many animal causes. She had over 40 different pets during her lifetime, all of whom she dearly loved.
