Doug was born in Dyess, Arkansas, to Lonnie Eugene Crowder and Margie Lenora Steele Crowder. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his three brothers, Danny Joe Crowder, Jerry Crowder, and Lonnie Crowder.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Billie "Kay" Crowder; his son, Todd Crowder, and his wife, Jennifer; his daughter, Amanda Crowder; and his beloved dog, Sadie, affectionately known to him as "Shorty," who was a constant companion and brought him endless joy. He was a proud grandfather to Brock Bunting (Taylor), Jacob Crowder (Haylee), and Kaytlyn Womack (Richard). One of his greatest joys in life was being "Papaw" to his five great-granddaughters: Sophie Bunting, Ryley Bunting, Lynnlee Bunting, Parker Kayt "PK" Womack, and Emery Crowder. He is also survived by his four sisters: Martha Reid (Robbie), Phyllis Taylor (Jimmy), Kathy Knowles (Kenny), and Sharon Pledger (Kevin); his nieces and their husbands, Rhonda and Paul Burton and Robbie and Gary Flynn, who held a special place in his heart; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Doug proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, spending part of his military service stationed in Korea. Following his service, he built a career defined by hard work and craftsmanship. He designed and fabricated dump truck beds for B-Line Trucking, later worked as a millwright for JH Hamlin and Weyerhaeuser, and retired in 2015 as shop foreman for Briggs Equipment.
A gifted woodworker, Doug found great satisfaction in creating beautiful and practical pieces for his wife and family. Whether he was building something in his workshop, enjoying a camping trip, or simply spending time with those he loved, he treasured every opportunity to make memories with family and friends.
Doug will be remembered not only for his strong work ethic and generous heart, but also for his wonderful sense of humor. He loved telling jokes, teasing those around him, and doing whatever he could to make people laugh. His contagious laugh and warm smile brightened every room he entered and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Doug's legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the countless things he built with his hands, and the love, laughter, and memories he leaves behind.
