Award-winning ceramicist Irene Jordan, 83, of Hensley, AR, passed away Tuesday, September 30th, at Baptist Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Samuel Jordan, who passed away in 2007; her father, Arley Lavelle Anglin; her mother, Catherine Anglin; her sister, Evelyn Crumpler; and her brothers, James Paul Anglin and Ralph Paul Anglin.
She is survived by her sons, Trey Jordan and Michael Jordan; her daughter-in-law, Kerry Jordan; and her grandson, Alex Jordan. She is also survived by her sister, Patsy Sloan; her sister-in-law, Vicki Skones; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her close companion, Bill Knott.
Irene was an entrepreneur who founded multiple ceramic store locations, where she taught classes and sold her handmade, award-winning art. She also designed and sculpted pieces for mass production. In addition, she established a chain of teen clothing stores known locally in Little Rock as Teen Town. After selling those businesses, Irene worked for UPS until her retirement.
Throughout her full and vibrant life, Irene enjoyed time with her large extended family and friends, traveling, attending church, and participating in a wide variety of competitive activities and games. She had a generous heart and never hesitated to help a friend, neighbor, or community in need.
A graveside service will be held for Irene at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery, located at 10201 Highway 5 N, Alexander, AR 72002. A memorial service will follow at: Bingham Road Baptist Church, 923 W. Bingham Road, Little Rock, AR 72206.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Irene’s memory be made to God’s Golden Girls Sunday School Class at Bingham Road Baptist Church.
