George Franklin Hemphill

George lived a life defined by love, devotion, and a deep commitment to his family. His service as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War defined the values of his entire life, Hardworking, brave and dedicated.

He leaves behind a legacy of love his wife of 58 years, the anchor and joy of his life, Brenda Hemphill, His son, Brad Hemphill, and daughters, April (David) Goff, and Melody Pye of Little Rock, Grandson Erik Goff of Mayflower and granddaughters Jessie Pye and Kathryn (Josh) Felts ofLittle Rock, all of whom were blessed to call George “Papaw” Grandson and namesake, George Amos Hemphill, great-granddaughter, Elaina Goff, great-grandson Tristan Johnson, who lovingly changed the nickname of "Papaw" to "Papa", a reflection of their unique bond, great-grandson Jackson Felts, and sister, Glenda West of Little Rock as well as an abundance of extended family members and countless friends who, over the years, became family.

If you knew George, you would say that he was one of the hardest working, kindest, and most giving men that you’ve ever known. He was generous, the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. His warmth, kindness and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation will be held at Griffin- Leggett Funeral Home on 12thstreet in Little Rock on July 28, 2026, from 10:00 - 11:00 am. A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held immediately following visitation at 11:00 am.
