Grace Omega Ashley was born November 2 1918 in what is now the East End community of Saline County at the home of her grandparents. She went to be with the Lord on Friday May 24 2019 at the age of 100. She was affectionately known by her family as Aunt Peggy. She was preceded in death by her husband Morris Riley Ashley, her parents N.T. Gwin and Pearl Cole Gwin-Wells, her sister Arvada and her nephew Wayne along with a special niece Monica. She is survived by her sister Dorothy, along with several nieces: Sandra Neville (Lawrence), Linda Rosshirt (Randy), Rhonda Young (Gary), Marsha Cole (Carl) and Angela Martindale Jackson.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she always looked forward to holiday gatherings along with the annual Cole-Morden reunion each year. She lived alone at her residence until her 99th birthday at which time she moved in with her sister Dorothy. Her independent spirit and loving heart were her greatest strengths.
Visitation will be held at East End Baptist Church on Tuesday May 28th from 6:00-8:00 pm with funeral services at the church on Wednesday at 10:00 am followed by a graveside at Salem Cemetery.
