

Born on October 1, 1937, in New Orleans, LA, James lived a life rooted in kindness, integrity, and hard work. He had an unwavering devotion to his family. His warm smile, gentle spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a man of strong character whose wisdom, generosity, and quiet strength touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
James dedicated 41years to his career as a Research Biologist, where he was respected for his hard work, commitment, and compassion. An avid outdoorsman, James loved gardening and hunting and took great pride in nurturing flowers. He had passion for softball as both a dedicated coach and umpire. James was deeply committed to his community, generously volunteering with the City of Little Rock and serving as a Park Ranger. His servant’s heart and dedication to improving the lives of others were evident in everything he did.
Above all else, James treasured time spent with his family and friends. Whether gathered around the dinner table, playing cards, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company, he created memories that will be cherished forever. He was a devoted father whose guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love shaped the lives of his children and all who looked to him for wisdom.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth LaBorde; his parents, Henry and Amie Nell Desselle LaBorde; and his brothers, Tommy (Rachel-deceased) LaBorde and Henry Ashton LaBorde (Mary). He is lovingly remembered by his children, Melinda (John) Walker, Pamela LaBorde, and Jeffrey LaBorde; grandchildren, Aaron (Jessie) Walker and Kristin (Matt) Norman; great-grandchildren, Henry Walker, Graham Walker, and Emma Norman; and many extended family members and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on July 7, 2026, from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm (rosary at 6:30pm) at Pinecrest Memorial Funeral Home (Alexander, AR). Funeral services will be held July 8, 2026, at 8:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel. Entombment will follow at 9:30am at Forest Hills Cemetery (Alexander, AR) followed by a reception at Pinecrest Memorial Funeral Home.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, friends, and loved ones who provided comfort and support throughout his journey. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 7201 West 32nd Street, Little Rock, AR 72204.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we celebrate a life well lived and a man deeply loved. His kindness, laughter, guidance, and unconditional love will forever remain in our hearts. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
