He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, J.D. and Bernice Layton and Wilma Shelton.
He is survived by his wife Lisa Layton; mother and stepfather, Nancy and Kenneth Hurt of Conway; aunts, Melanie Duloney and LaMona Ealy; numerous cousins and a network of friends across the state.
James was a Master Electrician and had worked the past 8 years at UALR.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, James loved his home state and was so proud to be an Arkansawyer. He enjoyed white water kayaking and was a charter member of the Turbo Turtles. Fishing also played a big part in James’ life as he spent many, many hours fishing the streams of Arkansas. He especially enjoyed fishing Crooked Creek with his dearest friend Billy Williams.
James loved pitching horse shoes with his friends from Zachs and playing dominoes during breaks with his co-workers at UALR. He was loved and will be missed by many.
A special thank you to Arkansas Hospice and their wonderful staff and Officer Johnson of LRPD.
