Around sunrise June 27th, our precious daughter Janet Gortney was taken from this world by her Savior Jesus nestled in His loving arms to dwell for eternity in Heaven with Him. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas March 22nd, 1960, she graduated from UALR, then moved to Wisconsin where she completed her Master’s degree. She then pusued her career as a medical physicist working in the radiology department in Hartford, Conneticut for 25 years until her illness brought her back home to Arkansas. She was a member of the American College of Radiology and Wisconsin Alumni Associates. She is survived by her parents Charles and Betty Gortney of Vilonia; sister Becky Gortney Phillips (Rickey) of Little Rock; brothers Charles A. (Rebekah) Gortney of Clinton, David Gortney of Conway; nieces Gracie and Joy Gortney of Clinton and Talor Gortney of Texas; nephew Joshua Gortney of Texas, and a host of family and friends. A celebration of Janet’s life will be held Wednesday, June 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth. A graveside service will be held June 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Sharon Cemetery in Benton, Arkansas.
