Joshua was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Anna; his children Yifat Miron (Tal), Ayelet Goren (Asaf), Karen Brandt, and Dina Epstein; grandchildren Bar, Yuval, Omer, Gal, Shachar, Rea, Ethan, and Ariel; one great-grandchild, Alon; sister, Sonya Portnoy; and brother, Moshe Epstein (Liora).
Joshua came to the United States in 1972 for his postdoctoral work at Harvard University. After years of research in Boston and Buffalo, he joined Dr. Bart Barlogie at MD Anderson and then UAMS in 1989 to establish the Myeloma Center, where he served as a professor of medicine and director of Basic and Translational research until his retirement in 2019.
Before and during his years as a researcher he served as a paratrooper in the Israeli Defense Force and fought in three wars. He continued to travel to Israel and around the world for family and work.
Joshua loved soccer, classical music, dancing, cooking, and above all, his wife and daughters.
A memorial service will be held at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth on Sunday, October 30th at 11am.
