

Mother Joy Renee Hayes Dunn was born on September 21, 1935, in Mandeville, Arkansas. She was the beloved daughter of the late Seeon and Gayola Williams, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Leola Howard.
Mother Dunn passed peacefully at The Springs of Pinnacle Mountain on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
Mother Dunn accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Saint Mark Baptist Church on May 1, 1975 under the leadership of Rev. Duggar Johnson. Mother Dunn served faithfully as an usher for many years.
In her professional life, Mother Dunn was employed in the Juvenile Justice System where she loved working and supporting the youth. She also served as a caregiver who provided loving support to those entrusted in her care. She also managed an in-home daycare and cared for many babies until they reached school age. Mother Dunn believed in education and demonstrated her beliefs by graduating from Arkansas Baptist College with a Bachelor’s Degree in her late 50’s or early 60’s.
Mother Dunn loved the Wheel of Fortune and viewed the show everyday. One of her greatest memories was when she appeared on the Show and won a large jackpot.
Those left to cherish her memory are her granddaughters, Mary Ann Thompson Moore, Tonya Thompson, and Erica Thompson, all of California. She also leaves eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren along with a host of friends and her church family.
A Celebration of Mrs. Joy Renee Hayes Life will take place Thursday April, 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Saint Mark Baptist Church, 5722 W 12th Street, Little Rock, AR, 72204.
